What I have in store for 2013

1 Jan

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!I have never been one to make New Years resolutions but I do like to think of a couple of goals. First I want to review some goals from 2012.
1-PR half marathon-accomplished: first at RNR DC on accident and then had a strong finish at OC. My PR was back in January 2008 on a FLAT course! I was long overdue for a PR.
2-PR half ironman-accomplished: The goal was to PR in Boise and just practice nutrition and pacing at Black Diamond. Boise got shortened, 40 miles on the bike, because of the weather and that time will never be broken. Black Diamond was a huge PR. I did not go into it with a time goal just wanted to practice my mental toughness and dig deep. Another long overdue PR from June 2009.
3-Strong finish at IMAZ-accomplished: Just about a perfect race from start to finish!
4-Continue to stay healthy and uninjuried:accomplished: staying healthy but failed on the uninjuried. I fell off my bike in August and had to rest a couple weeks. I healed from that pretty quick. Then at the end of my IMAZ training cycle I was starting to have some pain in my left achilles area. I rested and recovered from IMAZ much of December. I went to see a PT and I’ve got a few minor inbalances that are causing the soft tissue around my left ankle to bother me while running. I’ve been doing my strengthing exercises and will be running outside before I know it.

Wow I can’t believe this is going to be my 8th year running and 6th year doing triathlons. I guess I better set some high goals!!
1-Let my ankle heal.
2-Have a good solid race with a sub 7hour at Wildflower.
3-Bike around the rim of Crater Lake. I have a friend that is doing IMLT this year and needs to get in lots of high elevation rides.
4-Help my friend (from goal #3) stay motivated and finish IMLT.
5-Get on the Nuun Hood To Coast team.
6-Be an AWESOME Ragnar Ambassador.
7-PR my fall marathon. My weakness is running. When I say weakness I mean staying mentally tough at the end of a hard/long training run or race.
8-Continue to stay healthy and uninjuried.

What are your goals for 2013? What race are you most looking forward too?
