REST week RE-cap

17 Feb

This was my first rest week of my Wildflower training block.

WF Training Week 4 stats:
Swim- 6300 meters
Bike- 85 miles (50 road miles; 35 commuting miles)
Run- 5.5 miles

I would normally have done more pilates and yoga this week cause I have light work-outs but I was busy! ๐Ÿ™‚

I had a 5K run test to do on friday. It was a 20 minute warm-up + 5K as fast as I could go without slowing the pace + 10 min cool down. First of all I have not done a 5K race since 2008. Secondly, I have no idea how to pace myself for 12+ laps at the track! I thought here goes nothing!

It was a perfect weather morning. I wanted to try to go as fast as I could but be able to keep the pace. My first mile was 8:53. WHAT? I am post-injury. I have done no speed work since pre-IMAZ. I have no idea how I could pull out a 8:53! I just kept running and trying to go as fast as I could. 2nd mile was a 8:58. What? There is no way I will be able to hold this pace! 4 more laps…8:59. Not sure what happened but it was awesome!!

After that crazy fast performance I thought about signing up for a 5K. Psych!! I have 2 15K’s coming up. I need to focus on those! First up: Seattle Hot Chocolate 15K.

Today was my bike test. I had a 5 minute and a 20 minute time trial. Unfortunately my bike computer is on the fritz and I have no data. I do not wear a heart rate monitor either. Really no data. I just tried to stay steady and push through the pain for the entire TT! It was hard! I was glad that it was over when it was over!!

I am ready for week 5. I do not know what I am going to be up against because I can not get into my Training Peaks calendar. The only thing I know is my run milage is being bumped up. Hope all goes well! I guess it will be day by day.

Have a WONDERFUL week!! Train hard.

Fantastic job with your 5K test! Way to push through and hold the pace. That’s always hard for me, especially when it isn’t an official race.
