Saturday Runs

30 Mar

I used to love running early in the morning. I loved going out in the dark. I loved getting it done before most people were awake. I NOW love sleep more than running EARLY.

Saturday was a big day. I started my 10-11mile run at 6am. So EARLY!! I had an ok run. I had a loose plan of attack. I need to work on hills because Wildflower has plenty of those. I wanted to run from my house. That only meant I was heading to Broadway—>Terwilliger—>Waterfront. I was a bit sluggish. Maybe I was tired. I had not eaten enough on Friday?! Who knows. I just had one of those runs. Luckily enough I usually have good ones so having a bad one usually is not that big of a deal. It was supposed to be a little slower anyway…so when I look at it that way, it was good!

Next up was my Nuun video application shoot. I had a whole bunch of friends help me out. This was us celebrating we had finished it in 3 TAKES!
We had a fun time!! Now the editing happens!! Submission happens! Then I WAIT!

Today was the 4th Annual Natasha’s Run. Natasha was one of our honored teammates when I did Team in Training back in 2008 and 2009. She lost her battle to cancer on March 31, 2009. Shannon was Natasha’s chemo pal and best friend. She decided to celebrate Natasha’s life by running 26.2 miles exactly one year from her passing. That was the 1st annual. Most people just ran parts of the course. There were a few crazy people who ran the entire 26.2 with her on a week night no less. The next year Shannon decided that not everyone wanted to run a 26.2 mile run after working all day! She shortened it to 13 miles for the 2nd annual. Last year she shortened it to 11 miles for the 3rd annual. This year there were groups that did 13, 10, 5, 2.5 and a walk group. The whole purpose of the run is to celebrate Natasha’s life. We set off purple balloons in remembrance before we start each run.

This was the first year it was sunny and gorgeous out. It has been rainy all the other years!
This was the walk group. I was happy just to be walking after my awful great run this morning.

Do you see all the cherry blossoms behind me??

All of this before 2 o’clock. I need a nap!!

How was your saturday? Was it sunny where you live? How did you enjoy it?

I can’t wait to hear about or see your Nuun application. I really hope you get on the team! (I’m super disappointed the race is the same weekend as IM Canada…part of the reason I started a blog was to make a Nuun team!)
Natasha’s Run sounds like an amazing way to honour her. That’s so nice you guys are still doing it four years later.
It’s been super sunny all weekend here- lots of snow is melting and it’s beautiful!

I hope I make the team too!!

I am so glad we have kept up on the run every year. Shannon is actually moving to Atlanta in a few weeks but she wants to have a bi-coastal run next year!!

Since the snow is melting maybe you will be able to get out and ride!! 🙂

[…] I was tired. I guess it shows because Chris asked if I was tired. My first 2 runs were good. My long run was not as good. Running is my weakness I think that is why I hate having a bad run. I love to run […]
