Visiting Olympia, Washington!

18 Aug

I headed up to Olympia, Washington to hang out with some tri friends. Joann and Jenny are doing Challenge Penticton next weekend. We have been planning on having a training weekend + pizza + cake. Luckily enough we picked a weekend that they were in super taper mode. Since I am in my “off-season” I haven’t been riding my bike much.

I arrived Friday night. We got caught up on boys, race goals, and next years races. We went to bed at a decent hour. We got up on Saturday morning and had oatmeal for breakfast.

We were off on a 25 mile ride and they were going to give me the “bike tour” of Olympia.

We went by the Capital Lake Park: a 5 mile loop around the Capital and lake. We went through downtown. We made our way to Boston Harbor via lots more parks.

The biking was great. There are bike lanes everywhere. Olympia did not disappoint with the hills. We had a great rolling hills “taper” ride.

We got home and did a 2 mile transition run. Which felt surprisingly good. I might just do that sprint tri in September that I had been thinking about after all.

After showering and cleaning up we went to La Gitana. We got pizza and salad.

We finally got to the good stuff!! The chocolate cake was what we were there for. But we decided to get the puff pastry cream puff also! Delicious!

What a fun time I had in Olympia. Thanks to Joann for hosting. Good luck ladies: Trust your training!! You guys are going to rock next weekend!
