Biggest Mileage Week To Date!

18 Sep

I had my biggest running mileage week last week. I am pretty sure I have never hit 40 miles in one week before. Hello…BIG week for me! Here is how it went down:

Monday: Spin class + core/strength work

Tuesday: Track work-out: 6 miles. Hilly first portion. 2 mile repeats. Cool down. This was not pretty. I was nervous about this work out. I was positive. (Which I am not always positive about track practice). Felt good. Did my warm up and some hills. Hit the track for the repeats. The first one was slow. The second was slower. I thought I better call it quits if I had any hopes of having a good long run!! Cooled down and stretched.

Swim-1000 meters I was too bored to do anything more than that!! 😦

Wednesday: Rest day

Thursday: Long Run: 21 miles!!

Friday: HA! Another rest day. I slept in and missed my Pilates and spin class so I thought…WHAT THE HELL…I will just take another day off. Love the off season!! πŸ™‚

Saturday: Tempo Run: 5.5 miles. Dan and I hit the waterfront for some fast miles. It was his first run back after his race and I didn’t know what would happen with me after the 21 miler! It was fast, fun, and hard. It was nice having Dan there because he paced it out a bit. I am not sure if I would have gone as fast had he not been there!

Sunday: Hilly Run: 8 miles. Dan and I hit a hilly route today. Dan had a few snafus plus it started to rain. Of course!! But all in all a good run. I didn’t know if my legs would hold up on a harder run but they did good.

I felt really good. I had too many treats this week but I am doing better this week. I am in the under 30 day countdown so I really am trying to be good about my treat restriction!!

I signed up for one more race to round out my 2013 race season.

Portland Holiday Half Marathon! December 15th!
I have volunteered every year for this race but I thought I would try out the course this year. The weather is always spotty in December so we will see where the rain gods are that day!!

Anyone doing a holiday race? (or Thanksgiving race)

25 days to Chicago? I am going to start a blog, it will say, “I have not been doing the Leslie Block training program so I am going to need everyone to get down on your knees and pray for me. Thank you.” You’re awesome!

Wow- that’s an AWESOME week of training with some real quality workouts in there! I say enjoy the treats! You’re doing so much for your ‘off-season’!
Exciting about another race to finish off 2013.

Great job on your mileage this week!! What app did you use for the Chicago marathon countdown on your phone? That is cool! I am going to do a little 5k turkey trot on thanksgiving and want to do a race around Christmas too.

Great job to you too on your highest mileage ever last week!! We are both rocking it! πŸ™‚ I am so excited for you for Chicago. You are going to totally crush it.

We do a 10k every year on thanksgiving day, and I think we will probably also do another shorter turkey trot the weekend before. Nothing planned for December yet!

So pumped that we are both having good training cycles!!! It is so exciting!!! πŸ™‚
      I wish there was a 10K near me on Thanksgiving. I have just found a 5K and a 4 miler!! πŸ™‚
